Adam Tensta's father is from Gambia and his mother is Swedish. The rapper grew up in, and took his name from, Tensta, a suburb of Stockholm.

His debut album was released in 2007 winning him a Grammiand two Swedish DeeJay Awards.On January 26th, he was featured on the site of celebrity blogger Perez Hilton, highlighting the video of the single "My Cool".
